| 1) Where can I apply Rockpanel? Rockpanel is applied for facade cladding and barge board finishing in both new construction and renovation. One can distinguish twelve areas around the house and the roof. For an overview of these areas and a short explanation of them: |
| 2) What board thickness should I take? Depending on the area of application, you can choose a board thickness of 6, 8 or 10 mm. See the for recommended products and board thicknesses for every possible application. |
| 3) Can I also use Rockpanel in unventilated applications? In most cases Rockpanel boards come factory-equipped with a vapour-permeable coating. This coating makes it possible to use the panels under certain conditions in unventilated structures in residential construction. This allows you either to build narrower or to use more insulating material for the same structural thickness. And because there is no vertical ventilated cavity with wood laths, the fire properties of the structure are positively influenced. Rockpanel can advise you in your choice. |
| 4) What bending radius does Rockpanel have? The unique composition and low weight of Rockpanel boards give the product its unique properties. Rockpanel can therefore be easily bent and twisted. Boards of 6 mm are easier to bend than those of 8 mm. Narrower boards can be more easily bent than broader boards. For facades Rockpanel recommends 8 mm boards; for barge boards, the 6 mm thickness can be used. The bending radius when using Rockpanel Colours/Metallics/Woods (board length 3,050 mm) of 6 mm is at least 1,900 mm; with 8 mm it is at least 2,500 mm. For Rockpanel Ply of 3,050 mm in length with 6 mm thickness the bending radius amounts to at least 2,200 mm and with 8 mm at least 2,900 mm. |
| 5) Do I have to pre-drill the Rockpanel boards? Pre-drilling is not necessary, which will save you time and money. |
| 6) What processing possibilities does Rockpanel offer? Rockpanel is easy to process with a circular saw/board saw, hand saw and jigsaw (see answer question 9). |
7) What attachment methods can be used?
|
| 8) Must I finish the side or back of the board? The sawed edges do not have to be finished. Sunlight will cause them to turn dark brown in colour. The sawed edges do not absorb any water. If for aesthetic reasons the edges are to be finished, use Rockpanel Edge Paint or one of the following water-based paints:
|
| 9) How and with what can I saw Rockpanel? You can saw Rockpanel in the following ways:
|
| 10) Can I paint (over) Rockpanel, and if so, with what paint? Rockpanel has been designed as a low-maintenance facade cladding, but for those Rockpanel products which do not have the ProtectPlus option the coating-finishing for an aesthetic maintenance of a building can be painted over with a water-based system from various manufacturers. Rockpanel can advise you on this. |
