In Merchtem, Belgium, professional gardeners, market vendors and garden centers can rely on De Koster plant nursery for traditional and organic plants. As the owners of the plant nursery, the De Koster - Van den Hende family lives in an adjacent timber-framed building. However, their home became too small thanks to their growing family, so a renovation was necessary to meet their needs. After an initial consultation where the owners expressed their wishes and ideas, they decided to entrust the realization of the new design to Elke Vonck, Architect at Elke architectuur. She specified Rockpanel Stones panels as the external facade.
The existing house had an area of approximately 145 m2. Architect Elke Vonck designed an extension of 138 m2, creating more space for their children's rooms. Additionally, the extension also included a multipurpose room that serves as additional living space and a play area for the children.
